Contribution from Tammy Risteski, Academic Services Co-ordinator
Due to Covid-19 RMIT Open Day has been Re-imagined and is going virtual this year. RMIT University Open Day 2020 will be delivered online on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 August – 10am – 3pm each day.
This year there will be a chat platform available for academics and current students to chat with prospective students. I am calling out for staff volunteers and in particular program managers. The focus will be on undergraduate programs only. There will be other events later in the year that will target postgraduate programs.
If program managers and staff within your team are available to work on the chat platform, you will need to register using the below link. If you do not register, you will not have access to take part in the chat.
Note: Registrations must be by no later than Wednesday 22 July.
When you register, you will also be asked to select an online training session to attend. You need only attend one session. Full details about the access, usability and processes around the chat will be provided to you during these training sessions.
We are also requesting that you pick a few of your best students to represent your program on the Open Day chat platform too. You can either forward this email to the students directly or provide me with names so that I can forward them the email. If providing me with names I would need the names by Monday 13 July due to the tight deadline for registration. It would be best to provide me with names of 4th year students or for BP319 third year as they would have the most knowledge about the course.
If emailing students directly you will need to forward the below link to the student for them to register. You can do this by forwarding this email or by copying and pasting the link into your own email to send to the students. If they do not register by Wednesday 22 July, they will not be able to take part in the chat. Please still provide with names of students that you have sent the link to.
Ideally there will be at least three people (staff or students) available at all times to talk about programs. Similarly to a physical Open Day, we request that you are available for the full five hour shift. You will be allocated a break during this time. If you are not available for the full shift, please register and let me know direct.
Some academic staff will have the ability to talk about more than one program – this will be done in the back end when staff/students are allocated to chat areas. Full details of the chat platform, the allocation of staff and students and all other info will be provided during the chat and prior to the Open Day events.
