In early July SoEd staff attended the VCE conference in Xi’an. The four-day conference provides an opportunity for staff at Firbank, Thomas Carr College, Northcote High School and the RMIT VCE program to join with colleagues at our partner schools in China in a range of professional learning activities. As well as interactive workshops the conference included keynote presentations from Chinese and Victorian government officials and academics from both countries. Graduates from the program, now studying in Australia also shared their experiences.
Victoria, Craige, Liz, Caren and I also visited our partner school at the Beijing Zhongguancun Foreign Language School. We received a warm welcome and spent time sharing practice, team teaching and meeting with students. The students told us how keen they are to interact with the Melbourne students and practice their English. It will be good to see how we might facilitate this over the coming months.
We welcome our BZFLS colleagues who have now subscribed to the blog.
