On Friday our VC, Martin Bean, spent time with the MTP students in b.108. During a Q&A session the VC shared his own journey as an educator. He was authentic, challenging, optimistic and practical. He spoke about the need for grit and resilience and the importance of keeping focused on being a great teacher.
Responding to questions from the students, Martin ranged across preparation for job interviews to assessment, from pedagogy to coping in the first year out. He spoke about what it means to be an educator beyond classroom teaching.
As our students and staff commented, it was an inspiring session and an experience we hope to build on in coming years. My thanks to all the staff who helped organise the session.
