Stage 3 restrictions

Yesterday the Victorian Government provided updated advice on the return to Stage 3: Stay at Home restrictions for metropolitan Melbourne. These restrictions come into effect at midnight tonight (Wednesday 8 July) and will remain in place until at least 19 August.

What does this mean for semester 2?

Most of us will continue to work and teach from home.

In line with government advice and RMIT’s own risk assessments, we will proceed as planned with the scheduled return to campus of essential practical based activities that cannot be completed remotely to support student learning progression.

Urban School Units 3 & 4 will return to campus on Monday as planned and a small number of courses are scheduled to return to the Bundoora campus in semester 2.

How are we keeping the community safe?

The health, safety and wellbeing of our staff and students remain our number one priority so it is essential that you do not come to campus if you are feeling unwell and we encourage you to have a COVID-19 test.

In line with our COVIDSafe plan, we have a number of enhanced safety measures and protocols in place:

  • Hand sanitiser at the entrance of all buildings
  • Physical distancing requirements applied and signposted
  • Regular deep cleaning of facilities and equipment
  • Building access restrictions
  • Scheduling of spaces
  • Foot traffic management
  • Maximum room capacity clearly displayed
  • Frequent cleaning of high contact surfaces
  • Stringent hygiene requirements for all facilities
  • Protocols for using public transport as outlined by Public Transport Victoria.

What does this mean for placements?

You will have noted that school students (with the exception of Year 11 and 12 and those attending special schools) will extend their holidays next week, with the possibility of remote learning to be announced. Mel and our WIL team are working through implications for PX across our programs and will be in touch with further information.

Please note additional advice provided in WorkLife and emails today.

Our Q&A session is scheduled for 10 am this Thursday (July 9).

Take care, stay connected and don’t hesitate to be in touch.
