The landmark launch of the AFLW kicked off last Friday night in a clash between Collingwood and Carlton. The historic game was watched on television by over 1 million viewers and a sell out crowd of 24,000, with thousands turned away. Within the Health and Physical Education program we have a large emphasis on leadership development so it is wonderful that two RMIT Health & Physical Education graduates captain both Collingwood (Steph Chiocci) and Carlton (Lauren Arnell).
In addition to the two captains, Christina Bernardi (Collingwood), Lauren Morecroft (Melbourne), Laren Brazzale (Carlton) have also been drafted and played during the inaugural round.
No doubt these dynamic athletes will inspire thousands of young girls to play sport and be active in the years to come.
