As I am sure you are aware, RMIT recently designed and implemented its inaugural Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), an initiative to be proud of. The work however, does not end here, and as part of maintaining this momentum and working towards practical change and an equitable environment for Indigenous staff and students, the School of Education has made a commitment to begin the process of implementing our small section of this RAP in the form of a three year Indigenous Engagement Plan.

As the first step in the SoE three year Indigenous Engagement Plan we are seeking an understanding of the great work that is already happening in this space. To achieve this goal Al and I invite you to contribute your current practices to a google sheet to help us map what is happening in the Indigenous space within the school. We want to map all our courses, research, orientation activities and professional development. Use the tabs at the bottom of the sheet to find areas relevant to your work.

We acknowledge there will be some roles and activities that lend themselves more obviously to engaging with the Indigenous space and recognise that for some others these opportunities will be limited. To better understand this, we request that all staff, regardless of your role, respond to the google sheet, even if there is currently little or no engagement.

We really look forward to hearing from you and working together on our plan for the future.
