A reminder that DSC is hosting the following two mid-year induction programs followed by Canvas training for sessional staff next week on June 26 and July 10:
VE & Associate Degree sessional staff
Tuesday 26 June, 10:00-12:00, B80 room TBC
HE sessional staff
Tuesday 10 July, 10:30 – 12:30, B80 room TBC
As in previous years, the sessions will introduce sessional staff to L&T resources, key policies, services and support provided by the College and the University. The induction will include presentations from the Study Learning Centre, Library, Student Wellbeing/Safer Community, DSC Digital Learning Team and SALTs.
We will NOT cover aspects of teaching practice and pedagogies; Schools may wish to cover these elements in more focussed discipline-specific ways.

Your new sessional staff will also have the opportunity to engage in 1.5hr Canvas Essentials training. Canvas workshops will be scheduled in the afternoon following the Sessional Induction sessions and information will be sent to staff on how to enrol in these sessions.
Induction: DSC will cover payment for the two hour induction program for all new sessional staff. Returning staff are welcome to attend if they would like a refresher. Please note, DSC is unable to pay returning staff if they have attended our induction prior to 2018.
Canvas training: DSC will cover payment for all sessional staff attending Canvas training for the first time and details for claiming payment will be sent to staff and also provided in the Canvas training session. Payment will be at the non-teaching rate for VE /Assoc Degree staff and other activity rate for HE staff.
Payment for attendance at additional School based induction activities will need to be covered by the School.
