It is with sadness that I write to let you know that our colleague, Jillian Weaven, Senior HR Business Partner, passed away after a short illness on Sunday.
Jill was a respected HR colleague, a passionate indigenous advocate and a trusted business partner to the College of Design and Context.
A proud Wiradjuri woman, Jill was responsible for developing and leading HR’s Indigenous Engagement strategy across RMIT and acted as the key advocate within HR for our Aboriginal and Torres Islander employees.
During her seven years at RMIT Jill appreciated and celebrated diversity and showed compassion and understanding to those with whom she worked. Jill and I joined the College at the same time and she always provided me with sensitive support and unassuming leadership. I know Jill was a great source of advice and support to many SoEd staff.
Jill’s family has requested that anyone who would like to join in celebrating her life can light a candle in her memory on Saturday 18 April at 3.00 pm.
