Staff who attended morning tea yesterday at BU had a chance to try our new coffee machine and meet b.220 Artist in Residence, Robert Young. Rob is a Gunnai/Gunditjmarra/Yorta Yorta/Wiradjuri man, who lives in Melbourne.
Over the next fortnight Rob will be working with us in our new space, painting a mural on the stairwell at the back of the building. The mural will cover two floors from our staff space on level 3 down to level 1 teaching areas.
A number of you have asked the very reasonable question why we didn’t choose the front, more public stairs for the mural. The stairs at the back were selected because they cover two floors and connect our staff and students areas directly to the outdoors.
Rob’s work at Charcoal Lane, Gertrude St will be well known to many.
I am honoured that we have this opportunity to work with Rob in our new space. Do say hello and get to know him over the next few weeks.
