Myths about Australian university graduate outcomes

In this article, published last week in The Conversation, Omer Yezdani, Director of the Office of Planning and Strategic Management at ACU has analysed data from QILT, ABS, the Labour Force Survey, and the former Australian Graduate Survey to bust some misconceptions about graduate employment, including:

  • that Australian full-time graduate employment rates have been consistently declining for decades
  • that graduate employment rates are not impacted by economic downturns
  • that most graduates are underemployed by choice
  • that university education is really just about getting a job.
