LANTITE update
Some headlines from DET regarding the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE):
- New accreditation standards require students to possess personal literacy and numeracy levels broadly equivalent to top 30% of adult population.
- The test standards are revised to ensure that graduates have skills in the top 30%
- LANTITE test has been in operation since July 1, 2016
- The test is administered by the ACER
- The test website contains key information for students: https://teacheredtest.acer.edu.au
- Students can sit the test three times for each test component
- Transferring across universities will not be sufficient grounds to increase the test resit allowance
- A Dean of Education can request a 4th test attempt by making a case
- A 5th attempt can only be given by an independent evaluation committee
- No empirical evidence that certain groups of students may find LANTITE more difficult than others
