Saturday saw our HDR students and their supervisors gather in building 80 for a day focused on research. Jeff kicked off the morning beautifully with a keynote presentation on his own research on race in US schools. Jeff spoke to the ethics and impact of observation and gave us a taste of some of the powerful stories that emerged.
Di, Em and Geoff followed, providing great food for thought around their experiences as supervisors, generating many questions and snippets of advice for both HDR candidates and supervisors.
There were workshops on writing for publication and presenting at conferences and a productive afternoon full of milestones. Great opportunities throughout the day to meet new colleagues, renew connections and hear more about the diversity of research within the School. Thanks to all the staff who chaired and sat on milestone panels.
Many thanks to Em, Jeff and Julie for organising such a great, collegial event and to all participants for making it such a productive day.
