As we approach the lead up to Christmas I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for your collegiality and commitment this year. At our lunch recently we celebrated the highlights of 2019 including the creation of our possum skin cloak, the great success of dogs on campus, the development of discipline roadmaps, PhD completions and research seminars, accreditation, the HPES new program launch, the AVP and Bilbao conferences, the b.220 renovation work, and of course, as always, good colleagues, opportunities to share food together, team work and our students.
We have seen some staff changes this year, with the departures of Geoff, Michael, Shona and Nancy and we have welcomed others, continuing to build a strong SoEd.
I thank Thembi, who is handing over the AD, Education role to Kath Glasswell and Tricia, who will ensure a smooth transition for our new Associate Dean, Urban School, Sophie Fenton in January. My thanks to the Senior Leadership Group, PMs, Discipline Leads and Year Level Coordinators who all ensured the SoEd ran efficiently. I also thank those who stepped in during 2019 on contracts and to help us at critical periods: Kathy T, Sharon, Kaylene, Julie P and Shcifana.
In the final week of the year we will farewell Shane Duggan, whose VC post-doc position comes to an end and five staff from the professional team: Joan, Pam, Vicki, Julie and Michelle. At morning tea on Monday we acknowledged the wonderful service all have provided to both the school and to RMIT. We wish you all the very best for the future.
I wish you all well for the the break and hope you have time, after a big year, to recharge. I look forward to a happy and healthy start to 2020.
