It was good to see many of you yesterday at the DSC VE Futures briefing sessions on the City and Brunswick. At the sessions Paul Gough, our PVC, and Judy McGannon, DSC Director of Planning & Resources, outlined a proposal to create a single VE school within the College.
The purpose of the proposed restructure is to create a VE school with strong leadership to drive growth by streamlining VE services and support.
The proposal maps current Certs, Dips, Advanced Dips and Associate Degrees from across six schools into three new clusters, each led by an Associate Dean and overseen by a Dean. The proposed clusters, tentatively named, are:
- Social Futures (SoEd + GUSS programs)
- Media, Art & Communication (Art + Media & Communication programs)
- Design & Technology (Architecture & Urban Design + Fashion & Textiles programs)
VCE will remain in the School of Education as part of our plan to create an Urban School.
Keep an eye out this morning for more details from Paul as well as how you can contribute feedback during the two week consultation period.
These proposed changes have implications for all of us in the SoEd and I encourage all staff to make sure they understand the proposal.
During the consultation period Victoria, Anna and I will be available on all locations to talk through the implications and hear your thoughts, in groups and privately. As a first step, join the conversations today in b.51 or 108.
Location: 51.2.13 When: October 11, 11:50 am – 12:20 pm
Location: 108.5.04 When: October 11, 12:45 pm – 1:15 pm
If you’re unclear on any aspect of the proposal or how it will affect you and our students, don’t hesitate to be in touch.
