With a cabinet reshuffle announced yesterday, it is business as usual for education with Dan Tehan (Education), Karen Andrews (Industry, Science and Technology) and Michaelia Cash (Employment, Skills and Family Business) retaining leadership of their portfolios, with an expansion in remit for Michaelia Cash. A complete list of ministers is available here.
In a press statement yesterday Mr Tehan noted “I will ensure the education policy we took to the election; which includes a voluntary phonics health check for every Year 1 student, improving teacher quality and an expansion of the successful Regional Study Hubs program, is implemented. In addition, I will continue the Morrison government’s focus on addressing pre-school attendance amongst vulnerable, rural and remote, and indigenous children. I will also continue to implement our child care reforms and take strong action against dodgy and non-compliant child care providers.”
