Canvas update

The transition to canvas is gaining momentum and Project Rewire is leading the charge for the university. DSC College staff are working closely with Rewire and schools to help implement the transition.
This is an update of where we are up to and some of the next key steps. Further project communications will follow from Project Rewire.
Go live – semester 2
From our group of early adopters, DSC will have approximately 50 courses ‘go live’ in Canvas for semester 2. These include courses in the GC in Careers, Cert III EAL, B.Ed and HPE programs. The DSC Digital Learning team designers, LMS champions and SALTS have been working with our early adopters to ensure the courses are ready to go. We look forward to seeing how this goes and learning from our trailblazers.
Staff access to canvas
Program Managers and Course Coordinators across RMIT now have access to Canvas ‘sandpits’,  with more staff scheduled to be added to this list in July. Communications soon to come from Project Rewire will outline the process for staff who don’t yet have access.
Program shell test for VE
Program shells have been a challenging requirement for Canvas, and we are pleased that a collaboration between Project Rewire, teachers and learning designers has enabled a test solution to be trialled in the Cert III EAL. We are leading the way for the University!
School based roll out plans
We have been working on our School roll out plan, with a focus on program teams to help implement this major change. A key part of the plan is the program and course data from which schedules and work flows will emerge.
I do thank all staff who have been involved to date on this major project.
