Location: Building 16 (Storey Hall), Auditorium (Level 5).
This RMIT Learning and Teaching Academy symposium explores the move towards assessment models beyond exams. It provides an overview of new assessment practices that are providing renewed approaches to how students evidence their learning.
Provocation for the symposium will be provided by Associate Professor Wendy Sutherland-Smith (Deakin University) who will build on our recent special event ‘Contract cheating and implications for assessment design’ to provide an overview of consideration of assessments beyond exams. Her provocation will consider the major points of:
- Revisiting exam assessment rationales
- The nexus between assessment and breaches of academic integrity, including contract cheating
- Assessment design beyond exams
- Re-visioning assessment to reduce dishonest learning practices.
There will be a response to the provocation by a representative panel of RMIT University staff, followed by the opportunity for broader staff contributions to the discussion.
