RMIT has a strong commitment to creating a workforce that is inclusive and reflects the diversity of peoples and cultures that exist in the wider Australian community.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment is a priority of the University and to meet this priority we have launched an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Plan. The RMIT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Plan 2016-2020 continues the University’s on-going commitment to increasing the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders employed at the University.

The Employment Plan was approved by the Vice-Chancellor’s Executive late last year. The plan aims to increase employment opportunities and improve the retention rate of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across all levels of the University.  It outlines goals and priorities to build our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce, to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff career and personal development and to engender respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

I invite you to look at the details of the plan, including the goals and our current statistics on RMIT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff numbers.
