The following useful bits of information were included in Sherman Young’s recent newsletter to the Education Portfolio. I am sharing them with you.
Mental health services for staff
Staff and their immediate families can access our Employee Assistance Program, now for six sessions per year. Information on supporting your health and wellbeing in relation to COVID-19 is on WorkLife.
Special leave arrangements
Special leave arrangements apply for all affected RMIT Australia staff. View on WorkLife.
Retrieving items from offices
Our Melbourne campuses remain closed. Please contact the Dean as soon as possible to discuss what essential items you require.
View the Remote working page on WorkLife, or these 6 tips and tricks. You can explore more staff tips via the #WorkingFlexibly tag on Yammer. Ensuring a safe and comfortable working location is important. To support this, staff are required to complete the Working Remotely Agreement form by 3 April.
Home internet and other home office expenses
Staff are encouraged to check the ATO’s website concerning home office expenses. You may be able to claim a deduction for expenses you incur relating to working from home, including work-related phone and internet expenses, heating, cooling and lighting. You can also claim the work-related proportion of the decline in value of office equipment.
Providers such as Telstra, Vodafone and Optus have COVID-19 updates across their websites and are offering consumers and small business owners additional or value adds of their existing contracted products. Staff and students are encouraged to explore options available with their provider.
Information on system access, including access to RMIT software via myDesktop, is on WorkLife. Please discuss further needs with your manager.
Semester 1 census date has been extended to 30 April. Further information including on fee payment dates is on the Update on coronavirus (COVID-19) page.
