Davina Schmidt is a young artist from Germany who is doing an artist-in-residence placement with Lynette Weber in the Urban School
Davina is learning many new skills as well as sharing her skills with our students. Davina is also making connections with our RMIT students which may result in an exchange.
Here is one photo of Davina working in our classroom, she is cutting lino for a lino print.
The other photos are of a recent competition in Germany that she won. The competition was ‘Street Art Festival Blumberg’ where artists compete in different age group. Davina won in the Team 2 section for artists 15-17 years old. The artwork was completed with chalk directly on to the pavement / road.
During her time here Davina is visiting lots of galleries including our own RMIT Gallery. Lynette and her will be going to the White Night reimagined at the Melbourne Museum later this month as Davina has never seen artwork projected on to buildings at night-time.
Davina has also visited Healesville Sanctuary last weekend, and will be going to Hanging Rock, Bendigo and surrounds as well as the Great Ocean Road in a couple of weeks time: Lynette is certainly showing her the sights of Victoria!
